Wij kennen de heer Pon allemaal van zijn beroemde Bernardus wijnen, maar wij ondekte deze bijzondere Parrot Ranc. Single vineyard en alleen de aller, aller beste druiven worden gebruikt voor de Parrot Ranch. Niet ieder jaar komen de druiven in aanmerking voor de fles, maar in 2005 gelukkig wel!
De wijn rijpt 8 maanden op Frans eiken.
Er worden maar 3000 flessen wereldwijd gemaakt.
Aroma's
Geurend naar rijpe kersen en subtiele tonen van cedar hout.
Smaak
Indrukken van rijp rood fruit en hinten van drop en pure chocola.
Intense en lange afdronk.

In 1993, following in the tradition of great Bordeaux estates,
Opus One created a fine second wine called Overture. Every
acre of our estate vineyard is meticulously farmed with the
attention to detail and singular focus required to produce
Opus One. This scrutiny carries through the blending process
and certain lots will not be included in the final Opus One
blend. Yet, when these lots are afforded additional time in
barrel, along with the added flexibility of blending across
multiple vintages, the final wine achieves a remarkable
elegance and complexity.
Varietals
All five Bordeaux varieties make up the final blend; and
although Cabernet Sauvignon Predominates, Overture’s
varietal composition will invariably evolve based on the lot
selections made for Opus One. Overture captures the
essence of our estate across vintages. Overture is aged in
primarily new French oak with a small amounts of one and
two year old French oak barrels.
Tasting notes
Overture displays a vibrant garnet colour with expressive
aromas of fresh red fruit. Notes of bright cherry and red
currant are underpinned by bore earthy tones of ground
cocoa, cedar and vanilla. Extended barrel aging fives the
wine an elegant texture accentuated by round tannins and a
soft mouthfeel.

On the palate is a harmonious blend of fresh plum and focused minerality with tannins that are firm, round and elegant. Spherical in quality, this wine is complete from start to finish. A sublime vintage.

The 2009 Napanook is simply glorious. Sweet dark cherries, mint, tobacco, wild flowers and licorice all jump from the glass. The 2009 is a juicy , extroverted Napanook that impresses for its sheer pleasure and total harmony. Layers of fruit continue to build to the huge, creamy finish. As good as the 2009 is today. I have a hard time thinking it won't be better in another few years. If anything, this is too serious a wine for an entry-level offering. The 2009 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

NAPANOOK 2010 - NAPA VALLEY
 The 2010 Napanook (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot) reveals a pungent, spicy, earthy, slightly herbal nose, and an exuberant mouthfeel with lots of plum, licorice, red and black currants and a hint of sweet cherries. The wine is slightly more in-your-face and aggressive than most Napanooks, but I enjoyed its exuberant style.
Drink this beautiful 2010 over the next 12-15 years."

“There are 2,000 cases of the 2013 Napanook Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This wine reflects the much higher quality that’s emerging with the second wine of Dominus, which has really become almost its own entity. Loads of loamy soil notes, grilled herbs, meat, blackcurrants, sweet kirsch and licorice are all present in this medium to full-bodied, lush, sexy wine, even in 2013. It is interesting how much more evolved and forward the 2013 Napanook is compared to the 2013 Dominus. This wine can be drunk over the next 12-15 years. In any event, both merit considerable attention from subscribers.”
