Maucaillou 2016

The 2016 Maucaillou has a well-defined, tertiary, sous-bois scented bouquet that unfolds in the glass but resolutely remains “classic” in style, revealing pleasant tobacco scents with lime.The palate is medium-bodied with a bit of new oak showing its hand on the entry. That will need to be assimilated during elevage.But there is commendable depth towards the finish that has a subtle spiciness on the aftertaste. Tasted twice, the second time attested to improvement in bottle and I think it will continue that trajectory during its barrel maturation.
